“You can’t spend two decades referring to other men’s daughters as b*tches and hoes, and then somehow decide that your own daughter is going to be exempt from the game. You, my brother, have given nearly every inch of your creative productivity toward murdering your daughter’s self and public image before she was even born. In other words, you brought Blue Ivy Carter into a world where most of your biggest fans will look at her and refer to her not as daddy’s little princess, but instead as a dirty little bitch. In fact, they will even get paid for it.”—
-Dr. Boyce Watkins regarding Jay-Z’s decision to stop using the word “bitch” after the birth of his daughter. (via thinksaboutstuff)
Had to reblog this!! When I heard that Jay Z was going to stop using the B-word after the birth of his daughter I thought it was the most idiotic thing I have ever heard. It really took the birth of his daughter to finally start respecting women? Wow.
Wow, not even marriage could do it!!! It’s cool though Jay… As long as you not only stop calling women b*tches and treating them like dogs, but work to make others like you and who emulate you do the same.
The ones who consider the opposition’s position and use logic and citable evidence to dispute it. You know, the way we were taught to write argumentative essays in high school.
What I don’t understand are why many of those who care about human life don’t advocate just as hard for educational programs that would reduce unwanted pregnancies, and strike down measures that would provide assistance to those parents who decide to have children they cannot properly care for.
It’s like, they care about life while it’s still pretty ambiguous— a heartbeat with no name, a face without definition—
and stop caring when a child is born and joins the ranks of the under-educated or poor.
